I grew up in a small town in the mountains of Western North Carolina. It was while pursuing a degree in Construction Management from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC that I discovered woodworking. After graduating, I moved to Fort Bragg, CA to attend the College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking Program. I completed two years, staying through the last summer to work as an assistant instructor for one of the summer courses. Upon returning to North Carolina, my wife and I settled in Asheville, and I began working with chairmaker, Brian Boggs. I worked in that shop for nearly two years before setting out on my own to begin working as an independent furniture maker. My work has been featured in Fine Woodworking, Woodwork, and Woodworker West, as well as Lark Books’ 500 Cabinets. I have shown work in California, North Carolina, and, most recently, in Maine at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s show, Regeneration: Fine Woodworkers Under 30. |
